Luminous balance and brainwaves

The calendar is displaying December, and the year is coming to an end. At Kontrapunkt, we're gathering with a slightly more nostalgic sentiment. Throughout the four weeks of December, we'll delve into our archive — some entries more recent than others — and stroll down memory lane, exploring the various decades of Kontrapunkt design.

The explainer produced for Optoceutics is one of our most recent projects, a venture that commenced precisely one year ago. In these shadowy months, it feels fitting to unveil the intriguing journey behind rendering the inscrutable comprehensible and shed light on the profound impact of lightwaves. The protagonist of the story is light — embodied through the light therapy device Evy Light, with whom the Danish-American company wanted the world to get acquainted through an illustrated explainer. An explainer to convey the advantages of employing cutting-edge light-based technology to enhance brain health.

Let your brain age gracefully

Enter Evy Light, a remarkable device harnessing the potent force of light in the battle for enhanced mental acuity, offers solace to those grappling with age-related cognitive declines such as dementia. In a nutshell, it’s a light therapy lamp that pulsates at 40 Hz, emitting light at a specific frequency, oscillating between two distinct white hues. This cleverly triggers and aligns your gamma brainwaves. In essence, it is a luminous instrument that transforms chaos into symmetry. Meanwhile, our explainer delves into the intricate interplay between the eye and the brain, providing a deeper comprehension of how lightwaves impact our mental well-being and overall quality of life.

Beacon of gamma brainwaves

Right from the outset, it was evident that this explainer should not merely elucidate how Evy Light functions; it should also enlighten viewers about its profound impact on individuals. It should visualise the very realm of disarray within brainwaves to the realm of harmony, as the film’s emotion and sentiment should portray both patients and their loved ones. The well-being of people is symbolically represented through a dynamic interplay of light and colours, transitioning from calm illumination to sombre darkness, mirroring the state of an individual with a deficit. The dark and blue hues visually narrate the complex dance of brainwaves inside the head, which is then illuminated by a small light bulb, guiding the way toward achieving a more harmonious state of mind.
